BA Baggage Charge

We are American Airlines Gold and are using American Airlines miles
for a British Airlines flight. Will British Air honor our American
Airlines gold status and not charge for checked luggage?

What did they say when you contacted BA to ask?

If you are travelling World Traveller Plus, Club World or First then there
is a genuinely free baggage allowance anyway. It's only if you are
travelling World Traveller that a charge may apply. It is an AA ticket
(ticket numbers start 001) or a BA ticket (ticket numbers start 125). The
flight may well be operated by BA but do you have an AA or a BA flight
number. All of these elements may affect the answer so have them to hand
when you call British Airways. And call British Airways you should because
it is their staff you will be facing at check in and they are the people who
have to make the decision.

And make sure you call British Airways, not British Airlines on British Air.
There's a clue in their US toll free number 1-800-AIRWAYS!
