It's a bit cheap to say this: But I've heard Brussels is dull.

Also: You might want to see some of the country side as well. If tou skipped
Brussels you could rent a car and drive around in for instance Northern
France.

There is a lot more to Europe than big cities, unless you just really
really like big cities.

Talking dullness, I would rather stay around Brussels than go to Northern
France though.

1 week London - fine.
1 week Paris - fine. Don't miss Versailles.

Personally, I found Vienna and Munich to be more rewarding than
Berlin, unless you're particularly interested in World War II or the
Cold War.

4 days Amsterdam is too much unless you want to smoke. There's the
Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum and not much else.

I thought Brussels was worth seeing (its reputation for being boring
is undeserved - many cheesy bus tours skip it because it lacks a
world-famous sight). The Grand Place is the most beautiful square in
Europe, you can tour the Cantillon Brewery, which makes traditional
Belgian beers, there's a lot of Art Nouveau architecture and a pretty
good art museum, there's great food and beer; the desserts in
particular are quite good, and it has one of the largest African
communities in Europe, with many African restaurants and bars, and
stores selling African clothes and handicrafts. If those things don't
interest you, then skip it. Nearby Brugge, one of the best preserved
medieval towns, is a great place to visit, and a must if you're going
to the low countries. One day is enough for Brugge, and you can do it
easily as a day trip from Brussels. If you want to see another town
with many remnants of the middle ages, consider York in England.

Having visited at least a dozen towns and cities in Europe last summer,
Brugge is near the top of our list as one of the most enjoyable. I'd
recommend staying a couple of nights to have a full day, at least. Just
cruising around the canals on bicycles was fun.

And of course, Belgian beers are hard to beat! You can get Trappist brews
in the grocers for a Euro, which sell for $3.50-4.00 here.

Sounds like a good time, but many prefer Munich over Berlin. Try to
squeeze in Barcelona and/or Prague.

That's nonsense. I have lived in Amsterdam for the last 16 years and I still
haven't been to all items on my list. And I don't smoke.

Obviously these are all very personal choices, but there's definitely a
LOT more to Amsterdam than just the two museusms!!! Give me Amsterdam
over Brussels any time of the year, any day of the week! I love
Amsterdam, and I don't smoke.

I also think Berlin is fascinating - maybe just a bit more so than
Munich. Hard to pick as I liked both, but 4 days in Berlin was too
short for me, and two days in Munich was probably just okay (though
another day wouldn't hurt..).
