Which currency to bring/use in Playa Del Carmen

I have been checking out several sites and there is a mixed opinion on
which currency to use in Playa Del Carmen.
While we have been to Cancun many times, it is our opinion to use US
dollars. However, people tell me that PDC is different.

So, do the stores/shopkeepers quote prices in USD, pesos or both?

Thanks

Dollars work fine, exchange rate will vary. They will quote in both. make
sure you check what the exchange rate is before you go. If you have an ATM
card you can probably use it down there to get Pesos. the advantage is you
get the "wholesale" exchange rate which is usually slightly better than what
the stores will give you. The exchange is also delayed a little due to
processing.

If you are buying anything of real value where it would make a difference
make sure you use a credit card they also get a good exchange rate and it
gives you some protection for things that were not as advertised!
