Why do you cruise?

Well I look at it this way. Many of my relatives do all-inclusives and
their 7 day trip looks like this:

Day One
Travel to resort

Day Two
1. Get up early to hold beach chair with towel
2. Eat Breakfast
3. Lay on beach/swim/snorkel
4. Drink
5. Eat Lunch
6. Lay on beach/swim/snorkel
7. Drink
8. Eat Dinner
9. Drink a lot!
10. Go to bed

Day three, four, five, six
Repeat Day one

Day Seven
Return home

Now compare that with a 7 day cruise, with 4 different stops (5 if you
include the port of embarkation) and its a no-brainer. Cruise may be a
little more money but its like driving a Lexus versus a Kia in my books.

Why do you cruise?

Anka,

Good question. For my wife Deborah and myself, once we experienced our first
cruise in 1986, we easily knew that answer. A cruise will cost about the
same as a comparable land-based vacation - but when your add everything up
(accommodations, flight, transfers, food, entertainment, shows, plus a
relaxing voyage to some of the most exotic ports in the world), with a
cruise, you get so much more. Plus, for the most part, you unpack and pack
only once.

Why do you cruise?

From our viewpoint as "experienced vacationers" and "fairly
newbie cruisers"...

If you compare a cruise vacation with a non-cruise vacation,
dollar-for-dollar, menu-for-menu, event-for-event, and add some
sort of stress and de-stress factor (what's a vacation for?),
the result to us is perfectly clear.

A balcony room on a middle-market (Princess, HAL, etc.) cruise
ship vacation, wisely selected, is a substantially more
cost-effective way to spend money. Other than the obvious
constant change of venue and the atmosphere of romance and
adventure, to us the biggest differences a

room size - but who "lives" in that room?
gambling loss - house advantage on ships is incredible
safety - ships are safer than streets of many vacation cities
food - you'll never eat better than on a cruise - period!
people - we make friends on a cruise, but in a hotel?
convenience - our advantage is that we can cruise from home, and
our son drives us to the dock. WOW!

My reason encompasses many....but mostly the relaxing effect the sea has on
me. Leaving the driving up to someone else, the comfort of having everything
done for me...the provision of good food, room service, entertainment,
casino and visiting interesting places ...all with packing and unpacking
just once! All this with the company of good friends makes it Nirvana!

Why do you cruise?

Having a land vacation is not my idea of a vacation, not when you add up
all the hotel taxes, the cost of food, and any entertainmentyou might
want, a cruise is a much better value.
