Heathrow hotel needed
I am expecting a 24 hour layover at Heathrow (Following a v.long
flight). Can anyone recommend a nearby hotel? Reasonably priced is an advantage. Easy transport back and forth is a plus. Thanks, Dale -- To e-mail me remove the obvious before @ and change sinuswave to sinewave. |

In December 2007, I stayed at the Marriott, and got a very reasonable rate, but that's because I used Priceline.com. This hotel is a frequent win if you bid on a hotel near Heathrow. Very comfortable, and the taxi fare from Heathrow isn't a lot, or you can use one of the many bus services to get there if you're really going for cheap. |

I have stayed at both the Heathrow Central one--reachable by public bus from Heathrow--and the terminal 5 one which is reachable by the Heathrow Hoppa bus. Reserved in advance, they usually run 29 pounds a night for two and both are fine. The normal checkin is 3 pm but you can check in early for an additional 10 pounds. |

Thanks, Dale -- To e-mail me remove the obvious before @ and change sinuswave to sinewave.. I've had good deals at the Jurys Inn, which is fine - http://heathrowhotels.jurysinns.com/. Also heard good things about the St. Giles - http://stgiles.com. And there is now Yotel within the airport itself, though it's probably more suitable for a shorter layover - http://www.yotel.com. Though bear in mind that with a 24-hour layover, really anywhere in western/central London is quite a viable option, and will give you much more interesting choices in spending your waking hours and in dining. If money's not a big issue, then time isn't either - the Heathrow Express, albeit the priciest way to get into the city centre, takes only about 15 minutes into Paddington station. |
