'untouristy' things to do...
 

Hi! I'm visiting the Makay area in mid-September and am looking for
some more non-traditional things to do while in Australia. My travels
will be somewhat limited to the Makay area, but we will have a car for
getting around.

We definitely do plan a diving trip out to the Great Barrier reef,
some golf and a little mountain climbing. Any other suggestions?

Do a tour of the open cut black diamond mine down at Peak Downs. I did a
tour of the nearby Blair Athol mine. Not only was the tour an execellent
experience, but it was free, yes free! But that was a few years ago. Here's

Once you head west of the coast the crowds and commercialism very quickly
disappear. Here's a few more things to do out there in the bush.
