Buying travel gear in Thailand?
"Hallvard Tangeraas" wrote in message ... After having been in Hong Kong (and a short trip to Beijing) I'm going to Bangkok, Thailand. I'm not going to bring much stuff with me (I've done that in the past on shorter trips than this one) as I've always ended up dragging around unnecessary stuff, but I do need some basic stuff -especially backpacking gear such as sandals, various smart storage solutions for money, passports etc (money-belts and that kind of thing), and being in Norway where everything seems to be more expensive than just about anywhere else in the world (well, not really -that's partly a myth, but it's not cheap here) I'm wondering about buying that kind of stuff in Bangkok when i get there. Is it easy to get these things there? I need some *good* sandals (not cheapo plastic stuff that'll last for a couple of days), a pair of shorts some kind of pouch/money belt or whatever and probably some other things that I can't remember right now. Should I buy it here, or save my money and get the same stuff there, but at a much lower price? Hi Hallvard, I would say buy the stuff in Bkk. I bought a pair of Teva Sandals last year in bkk. 500 baht. They are 2000 baht in my country. You will find all you need in bkk. Khao San Road is good for shopping for these kind of things. At very competitive prices. Cheers Michael Christoffersen |
