the 13th of january 2009 between Melbourne and Adelaide. Does anyone have tips about nice/cozy/comfortable campgrounds (both coastal and countryside)? Thanks in advance! Peter |

The "Saw Pit" free camping ground in the national park outside Portland, Victoria. You should be able to find it on Google. Watch for the ants, but it can be magic in the early morning when the Wallabies are around. The other is the Nelson caravan park, on the Glenelg River. There are a couple of camp-grounds there, it's the one on the river-side. It is a commercial one, in a lovely spot and the fishing is good off the wharf. From memory there may be a free one upstream in the Glenelg park. I have to disappear for a few hours, I'll try to recall some of the others later. If you want advice on free (or nearly free) camping spots then this website may help: http://ozcamps.net/ For the commercial caravan parks you could check out http://www.exploroz.com/ or http://www.caravancampingnetwork.com.au/index.html For Caravan park chains see http://www.caravanning-oz.com/Tourist_Park_Chains.html Another fairly comprehensive site where you can find caravan parks is http://www.holidayparksvictoria.net....nparkspage.asp If you need more information just ask. Have fun preparing. Gerrit - Oz |
