Booking Celebrity Cruises on Board
 

We are heading out in Mid February on our annual cruise on Celebrity and
are thinking about booking '13s while on board. What are the perks
involved instead of just booking through the website?

It depends on the length of the cruise. Not sure about currently but it was
100 for seven days, 200 for seven to fourteen and 300 for longer. Plus
deposit is reduced. And there may be an upgrade within the cat. Don't know
if they still do that.

One of the main perks is that you pay very little down.

One of the hazards is that the on-board consultant will screw up the
reservation. (Has happened to me at least twice on two different cruise lines)

I do not use a website to book a cruise anyway - I use a travel agent. Doesn't
cost me any more, and I get better service.

The best way to do this is to get an "open booking" You will get the
OBC when you decide when and where you want to cruise. The deposit is
$100 per person, but if you are looking at a cruise well into the
future, get one future cruise certificate and when you do book, add the
other person. This way you are out only $100 until you decide on your
future cruise. If you are absolutely certain about the cruise you want
to take, it might make sense to get a certificate for each one of you
because you will only have to pay $200 to book the cruise until final
payment.

Figure out which way works best for your needs.

I booked a Celebrity cruise on board a Royal Caribbean ship and just got
off a Celebrity ship where I purchased certificates towards two future
cruises on Royal. They have not released the 2013 dates for the BTB I
want to do in August 2013. As soon as they release the dates, I will
use my certificates to book the cruises and get my OBC.

If you are in Celebrity's Captain's Club, you may be eligible for an
upgrade within the type of cabin. For example from a lower level ocean
view to a higher level ocean view or a lower level veranda to a higher
level veranda. The upgrades do not go out of the category.

The Celebrity cruise I booked on the Royal ship was 15 months in the
future. I sail on that cruise in April and, to date, have expended $200
to reserve it.

FWIW

You can't book an "Open" future cruise on the sister company. We tried that
on the Oasis. The consultant onboard said it could be done, but when we
tried to book a celebrity cruise later, they told us that an "OPEN" booking
could only be used on the cruise line that made the open booking. I'm not
sure if we still have one open booking on RCI available or not.

You can always do the "other" route... book a firm booking as far out as
you can, and then shift it later. The person on a Celebrity ship
suggested doing that one time.

You certainly can. I just did two of them on Celebrity for Royal.

Hi Janet

I won't argue with you about that. The cruise consultant (on the Oasis)
said it was OK, and made the booking. When I tried to use it on Celebrity,
they wouldn't let me do it and told me I had to use it for RCI. All I know
for sure that Celebrity would not let me use an "open" booking that I had
made on the Oasis OTS.
