What about for longer flights? Can you bring your own alcohol onboard if it's not in
glassware?

You cannot bring your own alcohol onto US flights. FAA regulations prohibit it.

I have never encountered a 2 drink max on any international flights - I fly
mostly UK - SE Asia - Australia. They can of course refuse to serve more to
people, e.g. when drunk.
I have seen rules that you cannot bring and drink your own booze, though I
dont know how they can stop you opening your duty free bottle.
On the other hand, are things so bad that you can't survice a flight without
getting smashed? ;)

I think that you can bring it you just cannot consume it. The duty free
shops would be ****ed if they could not sell booze. FFM

Well of course you can transport wine or alcohol by carring it as part of your
carry on luggage (we brough back nearly a case of Shiraz from Australia that
way) But the question asked was about bringing it on and then drinking it. That
is prohibited.

Seems to be forbidden but there is few reason as the flight assistant
agreed the passenger could have a beer (is not too drunk to have one
[more]).
