Alitalia troubles...

##
Alitalia achieved operating profit only once in the past 11 years, and loses
about euro50,000 (US$62,400) per hour. It is trying to improve its financial
health in hopes of joining an alliance formed by the merger of Air France and
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

You know an airline is in real trouble when they start measuring its losses
per hour instead of per month, quarter or year :-) :-) ;-) :-) :-) :-)

There were rumours that the government might split Alitalia into 2 companies.
The first one would inherit all debts, the second one would tne be privatized,
debt free and then free to join AF/KL. But these rumours were denied.
