Because of their continued censoring, harassing and immature actions towards other posters they disagree with, I have decided to disband and delete (with the exception of the SS NORWAY group) the Yahoogroups I originally established. It is no longer a pleasure for me, especially when I must "babysit" these few folks . . . former friends . . . who have been the troublemakers. Name names. Any RTCers? God, I hope so. Curiously enough, no. I don't believe any of the three troublemakers read or post here. The good part of the Yahoo groups is that the administrator can oust those who are troublemakers (and anyone else for that matter). The downside is that the Yahoo groups don't always work as well as we would like them to. Lloyd |

It is a general problem with web discussion groups, web sites, and on Usenet too, as there are a bunch of moderated Usenet groups that have went dead when the moderater has decided to move on for one reason or another. And of course their right to quit. At least with the Yahoo groups, if anyone desires to take the responsibility, they can set up a replacement or replacement groups. -- Charles |

There used to be a way to pass ownership ...
You are correct, it is simple to change ownership and moderators on the Yahoo groups. You can also ban members from the group who are causing problems. Becca -----enjoys the Yahoo groups... I'd like to know as well. I'm currently President of a non-profit org and
have set up a number of groups for admin purposes. In June I'll be passing-on the duties to someone else. I'd like to pass on the ownership of the groups as well (I assume my successor would like to be unencumbered by my presence) Mark "Cathy Heidemann" wrote in message ... Changing ownership of the Yahoogroup without including the original owner in some capacity (as a moderator or a subscriber) is impossible. I've tried, others have tried . . .it can't be done. And Yahoogroups "Help" is no help. If you have the secret, please post it. Seriously. Karen Could you transfer ownership, keep yourself as a member, then in a few days unsubscribe yourself?? Or just put your membership to "web only, no mail"? We had a group recently where the owner transferred ownership and left the group ... So it can be done. I'll do some investigating. Cathy |
