Taxi from Bangkok Rail Station to International Airport

I will be transiting Bangkok later on this year - from the railway station
to the airport.

Can anyone tell me
what is the approximate fare

can I pay the cab driver in $US

I will only be in Thailand for a few hours and want to avoid the hassle of
changing money just to pay for a cab.

Thanks

The taxi fare should be around 300 Baht, including road tolls.

Taxis are metered and they don't normally take US$, but might do so if
you were to offer it at an attractive enough rate of exchange. You'd
have to agree a flat-rate fare in US$ with the driver in advance, but
don't expect to get a good rate doing it that way.

You'd probably be better off changing $15 into Thai Baht rather than
take a chance of finding a taxi who would accept it. Its so easy to
change money in Bangkok and I'm sure there would be somewhere at the
station where you could do it. Any left-over change could be used for
a drink or snack at the airport.

300 Thai Baht is equal to US$9.30 at todays rate, so US$10 will cover fare
with small tip.

It would only cover it if the driver is willing to accept payment in
US$. He might insist on being paid in Thai Baht, or if he does accept
foreign currencies he might want a better rate of exchange than the
banks give.
