Netherlands in November - Weather?

It looks like now I won't be going to The Netherlands until about
November 1 and will stay until the 25. I really want to casually
bicycle for at least a 4 or 5 hours a day. Will it be told cold for
wearing sneakers? I don't want to be wearing insulated boots or
anything. I'll bring a hat and gloves and a windproof jacket with a
wool mid layer. Will bicycle be fun in this weather or will I be
confined inside drinking hot coco?

Probably the latter. I was there in November 2 years ago, and got rain
and sleet. Warm it wasn't!

We Dutch use our bikes all winter. No big deal.
And we don't wear insulated boots.

I am originally from the northeast US (Pennsylvania, New Jersey). In
the winter 85/86 I was living in the Netherlands. This was a colder
winter than usual, with many of the canals frozen. However, it was not
anywhere near as cold as a New Jersey winter. Sneakers would have been
fine the whole winter. My only winter coat was a trench coat with a
zip in wool lining, which I sometimes supplemented with a heavy wool
sweater underneath. I was never too cold. The more typical weather was
damp and drizzly. Snow was rare. It rains a lot, so make sure your
jacket has an integral hood that protects your face a bit.

Your biggest problem may be the short days.
