Dankblog: Roadtrip to Provo
Today I took a roadtrip to Provo, Utah, to visit someone in the
hospital. Not really much to see along the way, other than snow- covered mountains, cows, and roadkill. I wish I had stopped to photograph the roadkill, since it was probably the most exciting thing about the trip. I had been hoping to find a dead jackrabbit, which I was going to dye different colors and traumatize kids by telling them I killed the Easter Bunny. Somewhere along the way I got a signal from a Mormon radio station, and nearly fell asleep listening to some guy drone on about new members of the Quorum of Seventy. I passed some train cars covered in graffiti, which brightened my day, since I love graffiti. Having traveled the world last year, the only places I almost never saw graffiti in were Vietnam and Utah. A Communist police state and a Mormon police state. After about five hours, I finally hit Provo, continued a few more miles to Orem Exit 271, which is the closest one to the hospital. Now I'm sitting here in a hospital in Provo, occupying a set of spacetime coordinates, which is about the closest one comes to 'existence' in Utah. The place is absolutely surreal, and it's hard to believe it really exists except that I have photographs to prove it.
