Opening hours pubs in Paris
 

Hi,

We are a couple going to Paris in mid-July. We are arriving rather
late on a Monday evening, and we were wondering how long the pubs in
Paris are open. We will be staying at a hotel close to the Pantheon.

We are hoping to relax at a pub or a bar after many hours of travel, but
we don't want to go to any fancy nightclubs.

Many stay open until the wee hours, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Probably open from 7 AM to 2 AM. The cafes serve beer and there is always
one open somewhere. As for English or Irish type places, I don't know.
Near the Pantheon down the street towards the Jardin de Luxembourg there
is a Belgium place with maybe 200 different beers in bottles, probably
6 or so different kinds of draft beer. It serves mussels by preference.

You could go to rue Moufetard, there are many cafés and pubs that will
be open until 2 AM not to mention the restaurants.

When I was in Paris a couple of weeks ago, I often ate dinner at 10-11, in
the area around Rue St. André des Arts in the 6th. Bars were still open
when I left for bed, around 12, 12:30.

open all night, or 24 hours a day.

What's the difference?

There is a daylight period during each period of 24 hours at the
latitude of Paris, so 24 hours is longer than "all night."

The difference is that most are not open 24 hours/day. If you are on
jet lag from North American and go out at 5 AM to eat breakfast you will
find it hard to find a café open. Our nearest starts getting the tables
outside around 7, one of the local concierge earns extra money by washing
down the floors and if you want coffee and a tartine (a buttered
bagette split slideways) or croissant you'll have to stand at the
comptoir.

Look what happens when you take a few days off. You lose all sense of
