"The Wizard of Oz" and Australia

Do you think the title of the head of government in Australia should be
the Wizard? Might your opinion depend on who might be holding the
office at any given time? I have no opinion of the current occupant's
intellegence, character, and ideology, etc. but he seems to have the
looks:)

Do you think in the movie the inhabitants of Oz should have had
Australian accents?

And seriously, where did nicknaming Australia, Oz come from?

It sure isn't Kansas, Toto, and it certainly ain't Tennessee:)

I hope you realize I speak with affection, having been there three
times:)

Aus said OZ so Aus = OZ, the "S" is said ozzie style as an "Z"
OZtralia is how it is "stated" in Australian drawl ....get the picture?
From an Ozzie
re the PM being called a wizard, at the moment we want a wizard
to make him disappear with all his 19th century type laws
on labour market, terroism, Selling Telstra etc.

All the philosophies he has held since 1940's are now being
enacted and he is so arrogant and unyeilding as he has a
majority in both lower house and upper house, because the
Democrats who held the balance of power in the senate
self destructed with big egos before last election so very
few voted for them.
I believe we all will rue the day this occurred .
Statement that "Total power corrupts" is very valid at moment.
