I believe that only Oahu (HNL) is designated as a "International
Airport" complete with US Customs officials.
Thats why you must connect through HNL to get to another island when
traveling NonStop...

Eeverything was not updated in the condo
look at the old misaligned cabinets and old appliances.

No you do not need to walk out of the security area.
Ive done it the opposite way,
Maui to HNL Interisland, then HNL- SFO and never walked out of the
secure zone.

Official vs actual carry-on luggage dimensions (USA)

The size does matter.
Some over head compartments (767's) are not very deep or wide.
My carryon that fits overhead on all 737's and 757's and 777's with
ease, does not fit at all in a 767 over head...
