How to spend 4 days in Colorado in early September?

I'm thinking about Rocky Mountain National Park and/or the Summit County
area (maybe stay in Breckenridge). Do you think I should spend all 4 days
in one place, or can I do a couple days in RMNP...

OK to use non-TSA lock or not?

At IAD, I had a non-TSA lock on my bag, and they didn't complain when I
checked my bag. But at SFO, they demanded that I remove the lock when I
checked my bag. What is the rule? I am OK with...

Is it common to have locks and zippers torn off luggage?

Within the last 2 years, I have had a TSA lock bent to the point that it
was no longer functional, a TSA lock that got snapped off, and 2 zippers
yanked off. Why is luggage handling so rough?
