Traffic on I-405, the freeway you likely will use most of the way from LAX
to Long Beach, is unpredictable. If there is no serious traffic problems,
the trip should take no more than 30 to 45 minutes. However, if there is a
traffic problem, you can expect to take up to two hours for the trip. The
general rule of thumb from most cruisers is to try to arrive in the port
city the day before the cruise. That way, you can arrive at the ship rested
and prepared for your cruise rather than stressed out from the trials and
tribulations of modern air travel.
