He means that statistically speaking, your comparing two equally
unlikely events (being injured by radiation, being injured in a plane
crash).


Actually you're a ton safer on a plane than many other activities. I was
actually thinking more about the radiation exposure from air travel
itself, between airport security (whether or not you go through an
scanners, you'll be standing beside an x-ray machine that is scanning
your luggage) and the radiation exposure on the flight itself.

The levels throughout much of Japan are quite safe (and the radiation
isn't limited to Japan, other areas have measured the radiation release)

In other words, unless you're paranoid about radiation, Tokyo is safe.
If you are paranoid about radiation, air travel as a whole probably
isn't a good choice.
