The main point is that is several generations after the death of the
prophet, so it seems to me that the point is made.

I do understand that the details can be complex.

That is not the whole story. The earliest recorded collection of Hadith is
by Imam Hanafi who is born 69 years(Hijrah 80) after Prophet Muhamamd
died(Hijrah 11).
