For what it's worth, the staff at Travelocity is a bunch of raving assholes.

That's odd, I've dealt with them for years and had several occasions to
call them (changing flights and the like) and never once had a problem
such as you describe. All of my reservations always have been available
on-line and cancellable as well (when the type of reservation permits
this of course).
