We don't care how valid or etymologically correct the label "Pom" is.
We just use it. Just like the label "Yank" isn't exactly valid for a
lot of Americans either. We don't care. We just use it. I'm Australian
and none of my ancestors were convicts since my rellies arrived on a
much later boat, from a different country than the first boatloads. So,
no, I'm not a Pom. I'm a wog. No, not a Wily Oriental Gentleman either.
