Sell as many as possible to the early adopters, who will pay nearly

That sounds about right. Like with the iPhone. The early adopters payed

Who bought a BluRay player last Christmas when they were "only" $500?
Who bought one (taking a chance) the year before at $1200? Who bought
one today for $139.99? The guy at Fry's told me that Sony and Samsung
are having a private little war. Samsungs for $139.99 (magic price
point). Sonys next week for $124.99 (even more magic). He also said
that other brands would probably go below $100 by Christmas. Finally,
he said "At least I've been watching my movies in 1080p for the last
two years." With a groaning smile.
