Goes in same folder with photos of Chamberlain & H*tler tete a tete, FDR
and Uncle Joe warmly greeting, Nixon/Kruschev (before K starts throwing
shoes), etc.. Many folks, not just USAian pols, thought that a modest
boost for the wily Saddam might topple the then fresh and repressive
Iranian regime.

They who might search for any hint of morality or virtue in international
politics are soon discouraged, the manual of standard practices having long
ago been composed by graduates of Jesuit institutions.
