As far as hotels go, I'd definitely recommend the Lord Elgin Hotel,www.lordelgin.ca My parents have always stayed there during their
annual visits toOttawaand swear by it. I was just there this past
summer and it's a great hotel in a very central location.
Things to do: tour the Parliament buildings, sound and light show
(nightly on the Pariament grounds), the art museum, Bayward market area,
Royal Canadian Mint, Sparks Street pedestrian mall, see the Changing of
the Guard, boat tour of the Ottowa River, Gatineau Park across the river
in Quebec, Canadian Museum of Civilization, Orchestra in the arts center
on Lord Elgin street.
