In article says...
I agree that employers should pay all employees at least minimum wage, with
no exceptions for restaurant and hotel employees, for example. But why
eliminate tipping? Do you LIKE poor service? -Dave

Why should you expect poor service just because someone is not humping
for a handout? Do stewardesses expect a tip? Does your car mechanic
expect a tip to fix your car right? Does your doctor expect a tip for
doing your open heart surgery correctly? Probably, and the way things
are going one day they may have their hand out for a little extra. Who
decides what jobs require begging (a.k.a obligatory tipping) and what
doesn't? Somehow certain industries found a way around paying into
their employee's FICA and other benefits and created employment where
the employee, on paper, makes less than minimum wage, yet in reality,
like some bartenders and waitresses, can make more than $100K per year
-- mostly tax free -- all from handouts. Somehow this cancer has
festered on American society and the rest of us suckers who declare all
our income and deal with the IRS are left paying the freight of
government.

Get rid of tipping and make everything legit and set prices accordingly.
