Taking trip ex Talkeetna to Mt McKinley Glacier in mid Sept - Is it
better to fly in morning or afternoon .. and any idea how cold it gets
at this time of year?

it depends on the weather. you can expect clear days to be cold
and crisp, with hard frost likely at night. rainy days will
still be down close to freezing, and colder the further north &
away from cook inlet you get. at altitude it's quite cold, but
the plane should be heated.

it would probably be best to call the flying service you will be
using several days in advance and ask them if they have a
forecast. in my opinion, early morning light on either face of
the mountain is fantastic, but cloud cover is a constant problem.
a mountain almost 4 miles high creates its own weather.
