Delta Queen Names Bruce Nierenberg President

Cruise Industry Veteran Leads New Orleans-based Company

NEW ORLEANS, July 14
The Delta Queen Steamboat Company, Inc., (DQSC), owned and operated by
hospitality giant Delaware North Companies, has named cruise industry
veteran Bruce Nierenberg as its president. In his position, he will
oversee the operations of company and provide leadership for the three
authentic paddle wheelers that comprise the company's fleet, the
American-flagged Delta Queen, Mississippi Queen and American Queen.
Nierenberg replaces former president Rick Abramson, who was recently
promoted to president of Delaware North Companies Sportservice, the
company's flagship subsidiary.

For the past year, Nierenberg has served as executive vice president
overseeing organization's sales and marketing efforts as well as
strategic planning.

Former President of DQSC and newly appointed Sportservice President,
Rick Abramson, said he's excited to pass his leadership on to
Nierenberg. "Bruce has a long history of bringing success, innovative
thinking and visionary leadership to each position that he fulfills. I
feel the utmost confidence in him as he begins his new role as
president and delivers the sterling reputation and performance that
DQSC has come to consider second nature," Abramson said.

From 1983 to 1991, Nierenberg was a founding partner of Premier Cruise
Lines (The Big Red Boats), which became the largest cruise line in the
three- and four-day cruise market and the Official Cruise Line of Walt
Disney World. He is credited with bringing American families with
children into the cruise market with his Premier Cruise line project.

Prior to his starting Premier, he served as executive vice president
of U.S. Operations for Norwegian Caribbean Cruise Lines (NCL) and was
CEO of Scandinavian World Cruises/Seacape from 1979 to 1982. He was
president and CEO of Costa Cruise Lines/American Family Cruises from
1992 to 1994, and later rejoined NCL as executive vice president where
he implemented the first year round cruises from Houston to the
western Caribbean.

During his career, Nierenberg pioneered many successful products
widely used within the cruise industry today. While with NCL in the
1970s, Nierenberg was responsible for the acquisition and conversion
of the SS France into the SS Norway, the first mega cruise ship. He
also originated year round seven- day cruise service to the western
Caribbean and created the first cruises to the out islands of the
Bahamas. In addition, he was responsible for the creation of NCL's
national air-sea package program, which brought packaged
cruise-and-air vacations to all markets for the first time. At
Scandinavian World Cruises, he started the one-day "Cruise to Nowhere"
("Seascape") market in Florida.

Nierenberg attended the University of Miami. He began his career in
tourism at Eastern Airlines, working in various capacities before
entering the cruise industry with NCL in 1973. He served on the
Brevard Community College Foundation's Board of Governors and also
served on the Florida Commission on Tourism, including two years as
chairman.

The Delta Queen Steamboat Company traces its roots back to 1890 and is
the oldest cruise line in America. It offers 3- to 11-night cruises
aboard the legendary Delta Queen, the magnificent Mississippi Queen
and the grand American Queen through the American Heartland, Old South
and Wilderness Rivers. All Delta Queen cruises can be booked by
contacting your travel agent.
