Pub Figures Up Despite Smoke Ban

JD Wetherspoon has shrugged off the effects of the smoking ban and
revealed a 5.6% rise in sales for 2007, up to £62m. Although sales
were hit by the ban, the slowdown in bar sales was counterbalanced to
some extent by strong food sales, chairman Tim Martin said.

ROFL, talk about misleading reporting.

Wetherspoons banned smoking in all their pubs in May last year, which meant
they got a niche boost, by getting the publicity of banning, while other
places still allowed smoking, meant the pool of people who didnt like
smoking congregated to Wetherspoons.

With a full ban this year however, non smokers can go where they like.

What happened to Wetherspoons is a fantastic example of why a criminal ban
was not necessary.
