That could indeed have played a role. We were there over Xmas and New
year and there was a dearth of affordable places. Perhaps in summer,
during the tourist season, more places are open.


They will probably charge more in summer.


IME of restaurants in tourist spots in Italy, they post the "tourist" prices
at all times and unofficially give the locals a discount during slack
periods
