Brussels airport and the big black hole

Tue 06/02/07 - According to figures by Aviapartner, one of the
principal handling companies at Brussels Airport, the total number of
missing suit cases last year exceeded the figure of 45,000. The news
features in today's edition of Het Belang van Limburg.
(Belga)
Last year, exactly 45,653 passengers filed a complaint at Brussels
airport because one or several pieces of their luggage had gone
missing.

That's an increase of 10% compared to 2005.

Aviapartner says the increase is mainly due to the foiled attacks in
Great Britain at the end of August of last year.

In the subsequent chaos that also hit Brussels airport, over a
thousand suit cases went lost in a very short time span.

I think the reporter is math challenged.
If there was a 10 percent increase from the previous year, then that
would be about 4150 more. The report indicates over a thousand went lost
in a short time due to the "foiled attacks". About 1/4 is not "mainly".
