Default Continental threats

The act of purchasing your ticket with a credit card is enough for that card
number to be transmitted to the airline irrespective of whether you buy
paper or ET.

In addition some airlines outside the US require that you present a form of
identification at check in that you must nominate at the time of ticketing
if using ET. One valid form of identification is a credit card (even if
you didn't pay for the ticket with a card).

If you insist on paying by credit card you need to know who the merchant is
going to be. If it's the agent there is a good chance the card will not be
disclosed to the airline (except for identification purposes as noted above
and there are alternatives that can be used).
