Default two weeks in the U.S.

in los angeles, new york and washington sir. what budget hotels outside
the city proper can you suggest? $100 a day for 2 will be ok.

In LA (if you have to go to LA) from LAX take the 232 bus south to Aviation
and find the Quality Inn Hermosa Beach. From this position you can walk the
1/2 mile + to the beach and back. I'd never leave this position in LA and
have my friends come and visit me. You have a nice grocery within 100
meters.
In New York City I'd try something like the "3B Downtown Brooklyn Bed &
Breakfast." Good metro access if you're too hurried to walk across the
Brooklyn Bridge which is a personal favorite. Also, an most important you
are nice and close to the Brooklyn Ice Cream factor, a critical stop on your
tour. This is directly below the bridge on the Brooklyn side.
In D.C. I'd shoot for a hotel that's either close to or has a shuttle
available to the metro. On budget I'd shoot for something like the Comfort
Inn Alexandria, VA.

If you've used Priceline or Hotwire before try betterbidding.com or
biddingfortravel.com to get up to speed on offerings in these areas.
It's likely you don't really have the time to get up to speed on the areas
your going to and the bidding caveats to make this happen. Might be a
resource for the trip following this one.

Good luck, s
