Default if you are over 65...

...a member of an EU state, and have ID to prove it,
you can travel free on public transport in Budapest.
I wonder when England is going to join the EU?

And throughout London

I have been googling for that for a while and I can't find anything
remotely like it on offer. There are limited schemes available for
London residents, but absolutely nothing that an EU visitor could use,
no matter how much form-filling they were willing to put up with.

If I were over 65 and carrying a Hungarian passport to prove it,
what would I say to a London bus driver or tube station operative
to get on board without paying?

It seems like London is adopting a scheme similar to the one Scotland
has had for a few years - only Scottish residents are eligible.
