The world’s best cruise line visits the world’s best city tomorrow

Thursday, December 22, 2005
Recently rated ‘Best Small Ship’ in the 2006 Luxury Travel Gold List
Awards, ultra-luxury Silver Shadow arrives in Sydney tomorrow after
sailing from Singapore via Darwin, Cairns, the Whitsunday Islands and
Brisbane. The sleek, yacht-like ship will be spending the next month
cruising Australian and New Zealand waters prior to participating in
the spectacular Parade of Sail in Sydney Harbour on Australia Day.

The 28,000 grt ship entered service in 2000 and is one of four award
winning vessels that comprise the Silversea Cruises fleet. Proudly
Italian in heritage, Silversea is recognized as an innovator in the
luxury segment offering guests large-ship amenities aboard intimate
vessels all designed to offer an atmosphere of conviviality and casual
elegance. For the ninth year, Silversea was named ‘World’s Best’
small-ship line in the 2005 ‘Reader’s Choice’ survey conducted by
prestigious travel magazine Conde Nast Traveler. Also in the same
survey, Sydney reigned supreme earning the highest overall rating in
the ‘World’s Best’ city category.

For the second year in a row, Silversea was awarded ‘Best Small Cruise
Line’ in Luxury Travel’s Gold List awards while in 2004, the line was
selected as ‘World’s Best’ small-ship line in the Travel +Leisure
readers’ poll for the sixth time.

During its summer cruise season, Silver Shadow will be making maiden
calls to Eden, Kangaroo Island and Exmouth as well as visiting
Melbourne, Auckland, Hobart, Adelaide, Fremantle, Broome and numerous
other ports.
Silver Shadow will berth at 0700 at the Overseas Passenger Terminal,
Circular Quay tomorrow morning. The vessel sets sail at 1800 bound for
Melbourne.
