Default Drive from Natal north coast to Sun City?

Hi,

The trip is about 800km with decent roads most of the way. Durban to
Johannesburg is excellent highway (toll roads) all the way. Durban to
Johannesburg is about 5 hours if you drive normally. Johannesburg to
Sun City is about 1.5 hours. With stops, driving sensibly etc, you are
looking at about 7.5 hours.

Remember that you can't buy petrol with a credit card in South Africa.
It's either cash or a dedicated bank "garage card". Petrol is around
R4-00 per litre, and a small car (1600cc) will use around 90 to 100
litres on the trip.

If you are not pushed for time, I'd suggest deviating off the Dbn-Jhb
main road in two places.
1) Just outside Durban, take the "Midlands Meander" through the dairy
farming area. Lots of farm stalls, micro brewery, produce, arts and
crafts etc. all in a very pretty area.
2) Roughly halfway, take the Olifants pass that winds it's way through
part of the Drakensberg past the Sterkfontein Dam.

Enjoy the trip,

Hello all,
I'm going to South Africa this Christmas. I would like to know
if it is possible to drive a car from the Natal north coast(around
Tangaat) to Sun City in one day. Could someone please tell me approx
how many hours drive would it take me to go to Sun City? I am aware
the distance is a fair away but not exactly sure whether it is
feasible or practical to drive from Natal to Sun City. I plan to stay
in Sun City so no need to drive back to Natal. Just need to get an
idea before making any plans. Thanks.

Tim
