Hi guys

I must let you know about this..

Tell us about the different fare classes.

I had vaguely enquired about the price of a one-way ticket Dunedin-
Wellington (a flight I HAVE to take for many reasons) from friends in NZ
and they told me it should be relatively cheap. I tried booking a ticket
at airnewzealand.co.uk and it cost £127.

That's the "Economy" fare price. There is a full refund if you cancel
before departure.

Hm, I thought, let's try
airnewzealand.co.nz.

The airnewzealand.co.nz site lists several different fare classes.

It cost NZ$133.

That is the "Smart Saver" fare price.
(The "Flexi Saver" and "Fully Flexi" fares are higher than that.)

There is no refund if you cancel before departure, and hefty charges
(around half the ticket price IIRC) to change the booking. See
http://www.airnewzealand.co.nz/booki...aver_fares.htm
for a full list of restrictions.

I made a booking with my UK credit
card, gave my UK phone number as contact and received and e-ticket,
confirmation, the works.

Given that £=2.3NZ$ this is like a 240% mark-up if you buy from the UK
using the local UK site rather than the New Zealand site.

Most airlines have different fare classes, with different conditions and prices.
