Default Notebook Checks ?

I just found out that US immigration do a check of your notebook to
see if the battery has been replaced by explosives.

So what happens if you battery is too low to switch it on ,you don't
have one or it's a uk machine like mine that needs an adapter ?

I do have an adapter but my notebook doesn't have a keyboard because
I'm waiting for a new one I hope to get sent over while I'min the us ,
so I can't turn it on enven if I wanted to .

It sounds like I might have problem , does any one have any
suggestions as I really need to take my notebook with me ??

I might be flying tomorrow so any replies would greatly appreciated.

thanks

When I was flying UK-ROI they asked me to boot my laptop, but only whilst
flying out, not back. Keep it charged in any case, lol. Seriously though, if
it was going to be explosive, it would also need a detonator, which very
clearly show up on scanners as a small metal T shape known as an azide T.

Immigration is not going to ask you about your notebook. It's airport
security when you enter the boarding area.

Charge it up first. And why are you bringing a machine that don't have a
battery?

You can turn your machine on even without a keyboard.

If you're concerned that it might look suspicious, you
might want to consider just mailing it ahead of time to
where you'll be staying. Sounds like it isn't usable to
you anyway until you get a new keyboard mailed to you
in the US.

Or pack it in the checked bag.
