More on the SWA/ATA 'code share'
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1 This should shed some light on the plans for ATA and SWA to work together at MDW. In short, this gives SWA indirect footprints (via ATA) in cities that SWA doesn't fly to, including DEN, NYC, BOS, SFO (again), and many more. http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix....643&highlight= Enjoy. This means cheap trips to the UK & Europe from Boston are available to mid-continent SWA cities now. Not bad. What I find funny about this, is that SWA quietly slips into MSP to give NWA and MEP some competition. Plus they steer clear of any conflicts involving DFW and the Wright Amendment. ATA will still run that route under their own hood, and have nothing to do with SWA there. Pretty slick. BL. - -- Brad Littlejohn | Email: Unix Systems Administrator, | Web + NewsMaster, BOFH.. But, somewhat surprisingly, according to today's Dallas Morning News, not DFW. Southwest says they don't want to confuse the issue as they lobby for the repeal of the Wright Amendment. Actually, it shouldn't be surprising to anyone. It is to SWA's advantage to NOT let a connecting flight from MDW on ATA fly to DFW. proponents of the Wright Amendment would eat that up by saying that SWA is using ATA to get around it. Either way it goes, SWA's main goal with the Wright Amendment lobby for nixing it, is so it doesn't have to make that stop outside Texas from Dallas. Going to DFW either directly or via ATA would introduce a can of worms they would rather avoid period, let alone kill their 20 minute turn around (if SWA flew the route). Let ATA proper fly that route. Dallas is only one city to SWA. through them and ATA, they have bigger fish to fry in the country.
