Default Florida night ride

We'll be driving later this month from Sanford Fl to Sanibel Isl Fl at
night, according to Mapquest using the Greeneway, I-4, and I-75, about a 4
hr trip. Just wondering if there are any more deer or other fauna than here
in the mid-atlantic states at night down there that you have to watch out
for, radar traps, etc.

Snakes, 'gaitors, Smokey. This is mostly by swampy areas. Although
Smokey hunts wherever Smokey wants.

So if I see something that looks like a piece of 'ol tire laying there, it
could be.....!? Is it common for these pesks to hang out on the road at
night to enjoy a bit of leftover heat stored there?

Thought I might bring my radar detector with me for bear protection, but
then again, I will only have carry-on luggage--since there is no way to turn
on the radar detector (no ready 12v source) for airport security (like you
would a laptop, to prove it isn't something else), would it wind up
confiscated?
