Default El Canario By the Sea

When we did the Celebrity Constellation Southern Carib trip in April we
stayed the night before the cruise at the El Canario Inn -- real charming &
cute & a block from the beach --it's on Ashford --wondering if anyone has
tried one of their sister B&B's --El Canario by the Sea -- just wondering if
one is better than the other

Thanks in Advance

Bill

We've stayed at the third El Canario - El Canario by the Lagoon. Just a
block off Ashford, good location. Was very basic, decent continental
breakfast, and the price was right - about $85. for one night. When we
booked, I believe they said the other two were available only for two night
stays or longer.

Default El Canario By the Sea

Hi Bill,

We stayed at El Canario by the Sea several years ago before a cruise.
The location is good but that's about all I would say for it (at least
then). Our room had a window that looked into the alley behind the
place and the glass was partially missing and the frame was twisted
like someone tried to break in. The bathroom was full of mildew also.
We complained but they didn't do anything about it - looked at it and
said they'd contact the owner - never happened. I wouldn't stay there
unless someone has been there more recently with a better review.

Regards
Doug

We're probably going to give it a shot -- their web site says that the El
Canario by the Sea was newly renovated -- from what you say they really
needed it !! -- My wife & I enjoyed the Inn, but certainly not because of
the luxury --couldn't get over how charming the court yard was -- and being
right on Ashford helped -- B21 bus that takes you to old San Juan stops
right down the street --
