Thai-Laos bus links reviewed
http://bangkokpost.net/en/Horizons
Thai-Laos bus links Thailand and Laos plan to launch the first public bus service across their shared border next month in an effort to boost tourism. Daily bus service is expected to begin in April between the northeastern Thai provinces of Nong Khai and Udon Thani and the Laotian capital of Vientiane, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said in a statement. Thailand's state-run Transport Company Ltd will operate an unspecified number of daily one-way and roundtrip buses on both routes. Details about Laos' buses were not immediately available. One-way fare on the 30-km trip from Nong Khai to Vientiane will cost 30 baht, while the 80-km trip from Udon Thani will cost 80 baht. The statement did not give roundtrip fares. The president of Transport Company, Tawatchai Phaolaungthong, said the countries also plan to add a route from Ubon Ratchathani to the Laotian province of Pakse. They will also consider opening additional routes from Bangkok and Khon Kaen province to Vientiane. http://bangkokpost.net/en/Horizons |
