Nice drives from Munich

I'm looking for hints on 2 mini-daytrips from Munich
by car. They will both be on weekdays in November and
start from north of Munich along the A9. The first trip
will end in Munich and can last 6 hours. The second ends
at the airport and can take 7 hours (both unrushed estimates).
We're looking for scenery, architecture, nice driving and a
good place to eat. We will have a very nice car, GPS navigation,
1:200000 maps and good sense of direction.

A trip that's all driving is ok, and so are hard to find
places. The area south-east of Munich will be visited on
other days of this vacation, so I'm mainly looking for other
directions.

Any ideas?

I suggest driving up the Romantic Road, with a stop in Dinkelsbuhl &
Rothenburg - would be great if you could spend the night there as so
much to see.

How about the romantic road? it's north and slightly west of Munich.
Start in Augsburg and go north. Dinkelsbuhl where gingerbread comes
from is quaint and Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a tourist mecca. It is
very picturesque even when overrun. Then end your trip in Wurtzburg.
