Prices one pays for a cruise
I also think it is rude asking another what they paid for their cruise. It's
like asking how much you paid for anything personal, - car, clothing, house. However I live in the south (transplant many years ago) and it never ceases to amaze me, one of the first questions I am asked is my religion!!! Coming from the Mid Atlantic States I equate that with asking my salary. I REFUSE to answer these rude people. |

Prices one pays for a cruise
Whenever anyone is rude enough to ask me, I'll ask to tell me their price
first. Then, I always tell them I paid a price lower than theirs, whether true or not. Drives them crazy, serves them right... "Ebbtide" wrote in message ... About ten years ago, in Canada here, the government did a census. Among
some of the questions was: What is your religion? ....I refused to answer the personal questions like this. ....I was not only threatened with a jail term by the idiot woman who brought the forms around, but two weeks later, a man from a couple of hundred miles away drove all the way up to my place to threaten me with a jail term, too. ....Is it any wonder I refuse to wear a poppy on Remembrance day. ...Some of those soldiers would be rolling in their graves if they could see the -- so called--freedom they fought for. ...Jon |

I am frequently asked and always tell the truth. I don't think it rude, naive perhaps, but price shopping for multi-thousand $$ items makes perfect sense to me. If someone can verify they paid less for equal, I sure as hell want to know about it since my pocketbook is a hell of a lot more sensitive than my ego. For family research, it's a great tool - I wish they had asked MORE questions. Chris |

In theory I would agree with you about not discussing pricing.
However, I'll offer a brief story that may demonstrate why it might not be a bad idea in certain situations. We were on the Norwegian Wind several years ago and were seated at the dinner table with a very nice family from the UK. We gradually became good friends during the cruise, and at one point did discuss how much each of us had paid. It turns out that cruise pricing (at least back then) was much higher in the UK than it was in the US. For future cruises, we gave them the name of our US travel agent. I'm not sure if they were every able to use our TA, but to save several thousand dollars vs. UK prices, I think it was worth trying. Any way... this might be the exception. --Tom "Ebbtide" wrote in message ... I also think it is rude asking another what they paid for their cruise. I agree with you Tom, there is always the exception. I am not talking about
the situation you had, just the general rude person. Thanks for showing the alternative. Joyce "Tom & Linda" wrote in message et... In theory I would agree with you about not discussing pricing.
