Default Hotel in Mantova and vineyards in northern Italy

Hi all,
I'll be driving through northern Italy in a few weeks and was planning
a stop-off in Mantova. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel there?

Additionally, we'd like to take a tour of a vineyard (or two) - which
in this region are worth visiting?

Thanks in advance.

Wine in Mantova district

DOC Wines produced in the region of Mantova:
Garda, Colli Mantovani and Lambrusco Doc

A lot of white type of grapes are grown in this region: Garganega, white
pinot, gray pinot, chardonnay, italian tocai riesling, riesling, sauvignon
and cortese.
A lot of red grapes too: red cabernet, cabernet franc and sauvignon, merlot,
black pinot, marzemino, corvina and barbera.

The wine district around Mantova is called "Colli Mantovani" and produces
DOC wines.
The wine producers are present in these small cities: Castiglione delle
Stiviere, Cavriana, Monzambano, Ponti sul Mincio, Solferino and Volta
Mantovana.
Much more typical is the DOC Lambrusco (red wine, sometimes sparkling and
sometimes sweet). Lambrusco around Mantova is produced in the southern part
of Mantova's region.
The Lambrusco quality produced here is called "viadanese".
In the region of the "Parco del Mincio" you will find red and white wines
with the quality label "Doc Igt" produced around the hills of lake Garda.

Here the wine producers reccomended by "Small food", the association that
protects the "original and biological (organic) local production"

Several years ago, we stayed at the Hotel Broletto, Via
Accademia, 1. It was very convenient, just off the main piazza.
It was moderately priced, clean, and comfortable, but not
luxurious. I'd go back again.

Maybe a bit of a stretch but if I were you I would travel 3 hours west to
the Piemonte (Piedmont) area and have some of that famous Barolo and
Barbaresco wines; best red wines that Northern Italy has to offer, or Italy,
period.
