I traveled by bus fron San Jose to Mexico City in 1998. I was quite nervous
about crime, so I dressed as a woman! Full make up, flowery sarape, and the works. I never had to stand, got free tequila, and was treated with respect. I met some wonderful people! I suppose it will be soft winter in Mexico, softer in Central America. What was the route from DF, and to where in Nicaragua? We arrived to Granada in Nicaragua and returned. How long did the trip take? We did it in one month and a half, but not directly, visiting and enjoying the places we visited. What places (if any) did you stay overnight, or longer? We stayed about 5-6 days in Mexico City, in the rest up to 3-4 days. Any places you would recommend, or warn against, for a stopover? Oaxaca, Chiapas area, like San Cristobal or others, Guatemala is fantastic: Tikal, Antigua, the lake, etc. In Honduras the islands. In Nicaragua Leon and Granada. Not specially interesting visiting the capitals with the exception of Mexico City. Regards, Aitor aitoru at ozu.es http://w3.to/travellers |

Those buses can be very dangerous! As I've posted before, I recommend
dressing up as a woman. Much safer, and you meet some very nice people! "Aitor" wrote in message ... Clint
I think your idea of dressing up like a woman could be even more dangerous, if you got "found out" in the wrong restroom, in some bus station! YMMV.... Don |
