Default Reno/Tahoe - ideas for when to travel-

Thinking of going to this area maybe in a year. Have always been curious
about Lake Tahoe area. Yes maybe a bit of casino action in Reno but mostly
to see the lake.
May end up driving from Alberta not sure.
So I would be interested in knowing how late could I go and expect warm
enough weather during the day to not have to wear a coat except at night.
I would like to go second week of October but think I may have to settle for
Labor Day week in September.
Any ideas and perhaps accomodation hints?

Thanks

Ian

We've gone there all times of the year and the weather is pretty
unpredictable. I remember seeing it snow there in June. On the whole
though, early October should be OK. We were in the area a week or so
ago and still balmy. Always carry chains though! As far as a place to
stay, Harrahs can't be beat if you can afford it.

I think the beauty of the Tahoe Basin is enhanced by snow and
therefore recommend a visit near the end of the ski season rather than
the end of Summer.
