Default Getting mileage from US Air

I've been engaged in never-ending exchanges (per e-mail and snail-
mail) with the US Air Dividend Miles department re. 500 miles I flew
on United last winter and want credited to my DM account. I mailed
them the original boarding card, and the "Travel Document" which I got
from Orbitz upon purchasing my ticket through that company. The
"Travel Document" specifies the itinerary, record locator, price and E-
ticked number but not the fare class (only saying 'economy'). US Air
wants a receipt specifying the fare class. I have not received
anything like that. What do you think I am supposed to do? It's not
about those stupid 500 miles, but for the future, how to recover due
mileage when buying an E-ticket through Orbitz or similar agency.

Thanks, jrk

Wasn't the fare class on the boarding card..?

I as once asked for an original full receipt from the travel agent as
the boarding cards were not enough. I didn't bother as I found out
the flights did not qualify because it was a different operating
airline (you'd think they could have told me that from the boarding
cards). I also think it is ridiculous.. but rules for air miles clubs
make pensions look simple.

PS just checked on my self-printed boarding pass from Expedia for BA
and the class is given only as 'Euro traveller' which might not be
enough. Not sure if that isn't another reason to prefer 'real'
boarding cards.

Thanks, jrk

I don't think so (can't check since I sent the card in).

The fact is, old-fashioned paper tickets always showed the fare class.
With the E-ticket receipts that are mailed to you, some do and some
don't. Orbitz does not. In fact, it's darn difficult to find the fare
class of the ticket you are going to buy from them. It's hidden
somewhere in the fare regulations and penalties. And it does _not_
show on the receipt, or "Travel document" as they call it. Hard to
claim the miles afterwards, if they are not awarded automatically, as
was my case.

Best, jrk
